System Reliability of a Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig Considering the Effects of the Main Nodes

In this paper, structural systems reliability analysis was used to estimate the system of a typical semi-submersible based on characteristic structure failure mechanisms under extreme wave loads. First, three-dimensional simulation model created for chosen platform using an elastic-perfectly plastic material model, neglecting effect strain hardening assumption. Then, design conditions, and were examined, developed mechanism platform. Finally, methods determine platform’s reliability. It discovered that main node’s makes significant contribution overall reliability, so it is strongly advised nodes be taken into account when determining structure’s This research aims apply theory in offshore engineering and, ideally, encourage reliability-based platforms other similar structures.
